Student Nurse Association (SNA)

The College of Nursing Student Nurses Association unit registered under State and National unit in the academic year 2012-2013.It Provides opportunities to participate in community health related activities and promotes legislative involvement of the nursing student.
PURPOSE
  • To influence the educational process
  • To promote and encourage the participation in community affairs and activities
  • To promote and encourages the student participation in interdisciplinary activities.
  • To promote collaborative relationships with other nursing and health organizations.
Activities: 2013-2014

1. World Diabetic Day
World Diabetic Day was observed by the students on 14th November 2013 in the Catherine Booth Hospital Campus. Students were divided into various groups and conducted awareness programme through health talk to the patients, attenders, student nurses and staff nurses.

2. Teachers Day Celebration
Student Nurses Association had organised the Teachers Day on 5th September 2013. The students organized various programmes and competitions for the staff. The staff participated enthusiastically.

3. Nurses Day Celebration
Nurses day was observed on 13th May 2014 . The theme for 2014 is Nurses: A Force for Change – A vital resource for health.TNAI and SNA members of CON,SON,and CBH staff participated in this programme. They conducted various programmes like Debate, skit and cultural programmes. Major.Daiva Kumai,DWM ,CBH presided over the function.

4. World Health Day
World health Day was observed on 7th April 2014 at the college campus. Panel Discussion was conducted on the topic PROTECT YOURSELF FROM VECTOR - BORNE DISEASE. First and second year students participated for panel discussion.

Activities2014-2015

1. National Disaster week
National Disaster week observed from 24th November to 28th November 2014. It was organized by Third year BSc nursing students, headed by Ms. Ancy Albert Simpson, Clinical Instructor .They organized five days programmes like exhibition, poster presentation, Quiz competition, disaster triage simulation within the campus .Finally the day wind up with various cultural programmes. The programme was really a memorable one.

2. World Diabetes Day
Diabetic screening camp was organized on 14.11.2014 at the Out Patient Department of Catherine Booth Hospital from 9 AM to 01 PM. It commenced with a word of prayer by Major. James, Spiritual care officer, CBH. Mrs. Baby Stanley, Nursing Superintendent,CBH explained the significance of observing this day. Students arranged Diabetic food exhibition. Random blood sugar was checked for all the out patients free of cost. Nutrition counseling was also provided those who are in need.

3. World Cancer Day
Awareness programme was organized on 04.02.2015 at the OPD of CBH from 9:30 AM to 01.00 PM. It commenced with prayer song by college choir, Bible reading by Ms. Jemimah, I year BSc Nursing student and prayer by Mr. Poomani. Welcome speech and theme revealing was done by Ms. Alangara Delma, I year BSc Nursing student. Posters were displayed and video clippings were played on cancer. It came to an end with vote of thanks by Ms. Jamuna,III year BSc Nursing Student.

4.Teachers’ day
Teachers Day was observed on 08.09.2014 at 3.30 PM. It commenced with prayer song, Bible reading and prayer by Major. Swarnabai, Spiritual Care Officer. Mr. Daniel Vetha Paul, III year student delivered the welcome speech. Ms. Adline Leena,II year BSC Nursing student gave a speech on Teachers’ Day. Variety of Cultural programmes were carried out by the students. Response speech was delivered by Mr. Anandh Sam Perera, Asst Professor . It came to an end with vote of thanks, prayer and National Anthem.

5. International Nurses Day
Nurses Day observed on 12.05.2015 from 2.00- 5.00 PM. Quiz programme was conducted from 2.00- 3.00 PM and then it was followed by the programme. It had a prayer session, welcome speech, lighting the kuthuvilakku, Nurses pledge by Mrs. Baby Stanley, Nursing Superindentent, and felicitation by Major. Daiva Kumari, DPWM, and Mrs. Agnes Mary, Principal, School of Nursing. It was ended by vote of thanks.

6. International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
It was conducted on 26.06.2015. The III year BSc Nursing students conducted a health education and entertainment programme at Sneha, Tirunelveli.
